TGP – Thumbnail Gallery Post

MGP – Movie Gallery Post

Tgp’s content consists of links to image galleries. Image galleries come from public or paid submissions, FHGs (free hosted galleries) from sponsors, and some webmaster post their own hosted galleries.

Legit tgp’s contain a public toplist which often displays the top trades of the website, usually based on productivity of the trade (clicks to galleries/trades). Tgp toplists let other webmasters know who the site is trading with, so that they can decide if they should inquire about a trade with their own site.  Not having a toplist is not a good idea – webmasters want to see who you’re sharing traffic with as they want to be part of a good ring of trades. I personally do not trade with tgp/mgp sites who don’t post a toplist. I like to know who I am trading with, and who they’re trading with so that I can avoid bad sites (cheaters, low productivity sites, cj sites).

Tgps usually follow one of two formats – text or thumbnail.

Some webmasters run text only tgps where the gallery titles, descriptions, or other textual content point to the galleries. Other people post thumbnail preview images of the gallery and those images link to the full gallery. Then you have the hybrid webmasters who post both text and thumbnails on the same page.

Who makes the thumbnails on the thumb tgp sites? Most tgp scripts have a built in thumbnail cropper for surfers to create thumbnails. Tgp scripts can often create thumbnails automatically, but a robot does it and sometimes cuts off actors/acrtresses heads or other parts that usually need to be recropped. Sponsors sometimes provide webmasters with thumbnail images as well, and you can usually copy/paste a thumbnail from an FHG and resize it if you need to. Some people create their own custom thumbnail image and upload it via the submission forms upload option (if available, not all sites permit uploads).

Thumbnail galleries generally have 10-15 preview pictures of various sizes which link to full size images, and text/image  links or banners pointing surfers to the program or main website to see more content or purchase a membership to the program.

Mgps have the same concepts, but all the galleries posted have videos instead of images. There’s often 1-4 videos ranging in length of 10-30 seconds (will show 3-4 different clips) to 3 minutes (will display one clip).

When it comes to what kind of content to use, there are two different paths you can navigate through.

  • General tgp with multiple general categorized galleries; nothing specific.
  • Niched specific tgp with specialized content in a focused particular niche only.

General tgp’s have numerous categories of lots of niches for the surfers to pick and chose from. This gives surfers a touch of everything, and let’s visitors explore options they may not have been aware of before. This is good for people who market generic terms on search engines, and gives the users lots of options to chose from once they arrive at the site.

Niche specific tgp’s focus on one type of content and give surfers exactly what they want. Sufer types in a term on a search engine, lands at your site, and gets exactly what they’re looking for. This works great as long as you have enough unique content in whatever niche you chose to promote.
