Life of a Webmaster

I’m a person who likes to get things done fast and be on my way. When a person messages me on ICQ about setting up a traffic trade and they specifically state that they’re using ICQ because its “faster,” then by all means let’s get to the point.

Today a guy messages me stating he used ICQ rather than forum PM, then copy/pastes the message from the forum that I left him. Ok. I get it. You want to trade traffic. My response? “What do you want to do?” He responds with asking me if it’s ok to ask me questions. I reply, yes, let’s speed this up…get to the point and just ask the questions.

He responds by saying he will contact me later when I have more time.

I didn’t ever say I don’t have time, I just want you to ask the questions already.

The ten minutes I spent talking to this guy accomplished nothing because he couldn’t even ask the questions he wanted to ask.  Just ask away…it’s that easy.

Naturally speaking, no, it’s not physically possible as we don’t have 24/7/365 sunlight. But if you’re talking about the mood people are in – then perhaps.

Or how about today’s weather. It’s in the mid 50′s in late January. Snow and ice are melting. Skies are blue and the least cloudy I’ve seen them in weeks. And of course – what happens on sunny days and nice weather?

Carwash.

I went out for lunch around 1:30 and decided to wash the snow remnants off my own mobile, and of course there’s a line at the carwash. A line. Yes. A line. Are you kidding me? No. I can understand a four car line in the middle of the normal work day, but a ten car line is preposterous.

It went fast and I turned down the magic hand wax; it’s just going to be unsunny later in the week and probably snow again – no point going all out; I just want this white horseshit off my car.

After my trip to the carwash I stopped in Acme for my new favorite lunch. A bed of macaroni and cheese topped with chicken fingers and three containers of bbq sauce for dipping pleasure and an energy drink. Then I noticed they had massive cooked shrimp and added those to the list. (more…)

Today I spent about 2 hours sifting through old content CDr’s dating back to 2003. It’s amazing the the stuff you find that brings back fun college memories and days of spending 30 minutes downloading a 2 minute porn clip through AOL dialup and download accelerator plus.

I managed to find content for three websites and now I move onto the editing and uploading to the desired sites.

Looks like its going to be a busy few hours as I sort the items into groups of similar content to make uploading easier.

I’m thinking about buffalo chicken pizza for dinner – quick, fast, and less than a minute down the street.

I had shrimp with lobster sauce in white rice and a spicy salmon roll for breakfast/lunch – it’s totally a fast food day. I’ll do extra pull-ups and drink green tea to spike my metabolism to make up for it.

Lesson for today – backing up content is a good idea, but it’s even better six years later to see your old work and random saved items.

Woke up at about 11am today. Set the alarm for 10:30 to watch Obama give a speech, but decided to sleep in a bit and it was a good decision. The Obama events were a half hour behind schedule, so I didn’t miss a thing.

While updating numerous sites, gaining new link trades, and updating some .htaccess files and washing my cats ass, I couldn’t help but laugh at the really old black man who could barely mutter words out during his speech.

I seriously think he may be as old as the first slave. He definitely gave the best and most humorous speech of the day and if I were there I would’ve given him a standing ovation. Unfortunately, two other old guys had seizures. One of them was Ted Kennedy. The other I do not know.

One part of today’s events that bored the piss out of me was the poetry woman who could’ve put a crying baby to sleep out of boredom. (more…)
